I am a Quilter, Textile Artist and Accredited Judge, Appraiser and Teacher with Victorian Quilters living in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia.
Fabric, colour, thread, embroidery and quilting have been my life since 1997 when I first discovered the joy of making a quilt.
It was not long before I realised that I was more interested in making quilts as art for the wall rather than a bed cover.
Crazy Quilting proved to be the perfect vehicle for me to commence my original design work. Using this technique I was able to freely combine my love of colour and fabric with embroidery.
Much of my work is influenced by personal experience and I am frequently inspired by nature which seems to excite the creative process. I generally begin with a basic plan and work on one section at a time, problem solving along the way.
Over the years I have designed and made many Applique and Crazy Quilts. My interest in designing quilts with a narrative has provided a natural progression towards designing and making Art Quilts. My current work is abstract, contemporary quilts which enable me to express feelings and emotions.
I have been fortunate enough to win awards with my designs in Australia and the USA, including Best of Show in the Victorian Quilters Showcase in 2009 and 2010, the Award of Excellence in Art Quilt Australia 2023 and Best of Australia in the World Quilt Show in 2009. My work has been exhibited in Australia, USA, France and China.
